Chant du monde
Landscapes and faces filmed in the north of France become the subject of praise, sung by a technology trying to enter into dialogue with its surroundings. Drawing on the musical modes of the Notre-Dame school (12th–13th centuries), a five-voice synthesized choir responds to images of a world where an approaching apocalypse can be felt. The installation lends machines an unexpected capacity for attention and empathy: through them, we feel a sense of presence.
When at rest, the installation catches its breath beneath a starry sky, following a day-and-night cycle that echoes the rhythm of something that seems to be alive. Hence the innocence of its voices: to sing, you have to breathe, and the soul lives in the breath.
Immersive interactive installation with an outdoor bench, 7 speakers, and a video screen showing 22 clips that can be viewed individually .
